I believe that a work of art should be considered first and foremost a sensory experience. Thus, I am very interested in sensory cinema. This is how I define cinema of the senses: a narrative cinema which is hypersensitive and synaesthesic, seeks to blur the boundary between conventional narrative cinema and non-narrative experimental film, and tends to recreate different altered states of consciousness in the viewer. My work is hybrid: sensory short films and cinematic video installations. – Andrée-Anne Roussel
